GD Goenka Foundation — formerly G.D. Goenka Welfare Society, renamed with effect from 1 April 2026 — is an independently governed foundation entrusted with the GD Goenka Group's legacy of responsibility toward society. It designs and executes Schedule VII projects in partnership with GD Goenka University and GD Goenka Schools.
Legacy & Responsibility
Founded in 1988 as G.D. Goenka Welfare Society (Registration No. S/18770/1988, dated 10.03.1988, under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860), the Society was formally renamed G.D. Goenka Foundation with effect from 1 April 2026, by an Amended Certificate of Registration issued under Sections 12 & 12A of the Societies Registration Act by the Registrar of Societies, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. Same legal entity, same PAN (AAATG7083M) — new name.
Its Memorandum of Association sets out charitable objects across two founding pillars: medical relief — treatment and research centres, diagnostic facilities, health camps and disaster relief — and education — schools and institutions from pre-primary to higher levels, scholarships and financial aid to underprivileged students. These founding objects map directly onto Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013, which is what makes the Foundation an eligible CSR implementing agency. It is governed independently by its own Governing Body under its registered Rules & Regulations — it is not run as a department of the Group.
Programme Partners
Medical relief, nutrition and livelihood programmes are carried out directly by the Foundation under its own Memorandum of Association.
Foundation date verified via PAN AAATG7083M and Registration No. S/18770/1988. Schools/healthcare/states figures refer to the wider GD Goenka Group's public disclosures, not the Foundation's own CSR reach.
The Register
Constituted as a Society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 — ring-fencing all funds received for programme use rather than distribution to members.
Approved under clause (ii) of the 2nd proviso to Sec. 80G(5) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, in Form 10AD.
Registered under Section 12A/12AB, exempting the Foundation's income when applied towards its charitable objects.
Registered on Form CSR-1 with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, permitting the Foundation to receive and implement CSR funds under Section 135.

Governance
The cycle below isn't aspirational — it's how the Foundation's registered Rules & Regulations actually require it to run, from annual General Body approval down to statutory audit.
